The Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Life-Sciences recently organized a Satellite symposium on the Society for Free Radical Research in March, 2009. An update on the meeting was posted on the AMU Network. Based on the feedback obtained, most of the delegates were very pleased by the organizational abilities of the Organizing committee in general and to the Chair of the Department, Professor S.M Hadi and Organizing secretary, Professor Masood Ahmad in particular.
Dr. Thomas Devasagayam, from the Radiation Biology & Health Sciences Division of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, highly acclaimed the arrangements of the meeting and was very impressed by the organizational leadership of Prof. S.M.Hadi. Dr. Devasagayam also called upon everybody from AMU to "take active part in the activities of the society and encouraged everybody to attend the future meetings".
Dr. Suresh Tyagi, a well known Scientist, who runs a very well funded research lab at the School of Medicine, University of Louisville, KY, USA, was also highly appreciative of the manner in which the meeting was conducted. Dr. Tyagi in an email to Dr. Ahmad writes "Thank you very much for the wonderful and excellent hospitality during the meeting at AMU. Please keep in touch. Please forward my email address to the Master and Final B.Sc students in your biochemistry programs."
Such positive actions will definitely help the scientists of the next generation in their research endeavors that are currently being groomed at AMU.
Dr. Michael Moorhouse, from Netherlands, also lauded the efforts of the organizing committee. In Dr. Moorhouse's words "it was a wonderful experience and your hard work in the arrangement of this benefited everybody concerned."
In a congratulatory email sent to Professor Ahmad, Dr. Elisabeth Deindl, from the Walter-Brendel-Center for Experimental Medicine Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Germany was very impressed by the research activities going on at AMU, "For me it was very awe-inspiring to see your University and to get an impression of the research you are doing. You have organized a great meeting with famous national and international speakers. Congratulations!"

This is indeed a moment for all of us to feel proud of the research activities going on at AMU. Such meetings should be held on a more regular basis that will provide a platform for interaction amongst the Scientists and the Research Scholars. This will definitely help in the development of scientific acumen among the researchers and students, which will help them immensely in their career development which in large will be beneficial to the student, Institution and the community at large.
