The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis today inaugurated an exhibitfion of books on Seerat, Quraniyat and specimen of Quranic calligraphy at Maulana Azad Library.
Rare and illuminated copies of Holy Quran and calligraphic specimen were displayed today at the Seerat exhibition.
A large number of students, faculty members and other dignitaries including Nawab Ibne Saeed of Chhatari and Prof. Shamim Ahmad were also present.
Librarian-in-Charge Prof. Shabahat Husain said that the exhibition shall remain open till February 27, 2010

Five New AMU Campus Plan Shows A Definite Progress
The efforts of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to establish five centers have made decisive progress in the states of West Bengal and Kerala. AMU is hopeful for starting these Special Centers in a symbolic way from the next academic year if the concerned Governments hand over the proposed land to AMU in full.
Regarding the establishment of Special Centre at Murshidabad, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Professor P.K. Abdul Azis met the Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee along with Mr. Moinul Hasan, Member of Parliament and AMU Court and discussed with him the matter pertaining to the transfer of land for AMU Centre at Murshidabad in West Bengal.
Mr. Mukherjee has promised that the matter would be resolved within a few days and the amount of Rs. 25 crores each meant for West Bengal and Kerala will be transferred within a couple of days.
The Union Finance Minister has suggested that the Centre be started from the next session and building could be made available in Murshidabad for this purpose.
Mr. M.A. Baby, Minister of Education in Kerala yesterday informed the AMU Vice Chancellor that in the first phase, 156 acres of land will be transferred to AMU by the Government of Kerala on March 6, 2010 at a public function in Perinthalmanna, Malappuram District of Kerala. The Minister for Revenue, Mr. Rajendran and Minister for Minority Affairs, Mr. Palalu Mohammad Kutty, Government of Kerala would also be attending the function.
A team of senior functionaries of AMU led by the AMU Registrar, Professor V.K. Abdul Jaleel, will be visiting Perinthalmanna on 4th of March 2010 for verification of land records and handing over of land to AMU. Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor will be attending the function on March 6, 2010 at Thiruvanthapuram.
The Government of Kerala has decided to allot about 400 acres of land for the purpose of establishing Special Center at Malapuram. In a joint meeting in Malapuram on September 30, 2009 the fast track land acquisition officer Mrs. Lalita Ambika, IAS and the District Magistrate, Mr. M. C. Mohan Das promised to handover 156 acers of land now and the remaining part after March 2010 with a thirty meter road connecting the new campus to national highway.
