Teaching Vacancies at King Faisal University, KSA

Dear Aligs,
Assalam-o-Alaikum
Position: Lecturers/Assistant Professors/Associate Professors/Full Professors
Institution: King Faisal University
Location: Saudi Arabia
Date of Advt.: 12/5/2009

Business: King Faisal University was founded in 1975 and is located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It has two campuses, the main one is located in Al-Hassa, while the other is in Dammam. The climate during most of the academic year is quite pleasant with temperatures ranging from briskly cool to comfortably warm, but both Al-Hassa and Dammam have to deal with extreme heat during June to September. To counter this problem, the University has fully central air conditioned buildings. The School of Business at King Faisal University is seeking qualified males and females faculty members to teach in various business disciplines, such as marketing, accounting, economics, finance, management, operation management, and management information systems. All ranks of Lecturers/Assistant/Associate/Full Professors will be considered. Applicants should have Ph.D. or Master's degrees in the discipline. Three to five years of teaching in institutions (preferably international institutions) of higher learning at which the medium of instruction is English would be preferred. Industrial work experience is a plus. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until positions are filled. While additional materials may be requested in the future, qualified, interested applicants should send only by e-mail their letter of application and curriculum vitae to amulhem@kfu.edu.sa.
Thank You
With best regards

Resolution of GB Meeting of AMUTA

ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION,

May 22, 2009

Unanimous Resolution passed by the General Body of AMU Teachers' Association in its meeting held on 22nd May, 2009.

Item No.1. This meeting of the General Body of AMU Teachers' Association (AMUTA) held on 22nd May, 2009 expresses its deep concern over the delay in holding of the General Selection Committees for promotions/appointments in various departments of the University. The General Body is greatly perturbed over the slow pace of convening the General Selection Committees (GSC) by the University administration as Selection Committees for only a few departments have been held during the last two years. The meeting urges upon the Vice-Chancellor to expedite the process so as to complete one round of General Selection Committee in the University within three months. The fresh notification of the new UGC guidelines for the promotions/appointments of teachers is expected to be different from the existing one. In that case a large number of AMU teachers would be deprived of the benefits of promotions under the Vth Pay Commission if the General Selection Committees are not held at the earliest. This meeting expects the Vice-Chancellor to take up the matter on priority basis and convene the General Selection Committees at the earliest, giving preference to those departments where the General Selection Committees have not been held for a longer period. This meeting further calls upon the University administration to draw a schedule of such Selection Committees urgently and make it available to the teaching community so that the tension of such a long wait for the Selection Committee may be relieved.

The meeting unanimously resolves that AMUTA would be constrained to resort to other democratic means if effective steps are not initiated by the University administration in this regard and a time bound schedule of the Selection Committee is not prepared. The future course of action would be decided by the General Body of the Association in its next meeting.

Item No.2 This meeting of the General Body of AMUTA also expresses its strong resentment and deep concern over the holding of the General Selection Committee for the placement of Lecturer to Lecturer (Senior Scale) instead of Screening Committee.

The meeting is of the considered opinion that such a step is a flagrant violation of the provisions of the AMU Ordinances and UGC guidelines and is contrary to the procedure followed in the University for more than two decades. The meeting calls upon the University administration to restore the old procedure for the placement of Lecturers to Senior Scale so that no inconvenience is caused to the aspiring Lecturers. The Screening Committees should be convened at the earliest.

The General Body authorizes the Executive Committee of AMUTA to form a delegation to visit UGC and meet the Minister for Human Resource Development to discuss the above two issues and the other pressing issues concerning the University.
