Emergency and Trauma Airway Course By JNMC AMU

ALIGARH, August 6: Airway is one of the most vital steps in initial resuscitation of sick or injured patients but emergency wards are often manned by the doctors with least training in managing sick patients. They often lack skills in airway and ventilator management. The doctors often rely on Anaesthesiologists for airway management which results in loss of critical time, and often poor outcome. To overcome this, the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care organizing Emergency and Trauma Airway Course (ETAC) in collaboration with the INDO-US Academic Council which will be inaugurated by the AMU Vice Chancellor on August 8 at 10:00 am at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.

According to Dr. S. Moied Ahmed, Course Director that Prof. O.P. Kalra, Principal, University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Prof. Praveen Aggarwal, National Chair, INDO-US Academic Council for Emergency & Trauma will be the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

This course has been structured in a format which deviates from the regular pattern of airway workshop mostly followed. The concept of Chain of Airway Management has been developed while structuring the course curriculum which incorporates airway management, followed by oxygenation and mechanical ventilation. The course has two components the Basic and the Advanced Airway management.

The basic objective of this course is to help the participants sharpen their skills in this crucial aspect of emergency care so that they can incorporate this into a practical algorithm of emergency airway management.

THE SELECTION COMMITTEE OF "ADABI CULTURE", VARANASI, INDIA HAS
AWARDED PARVIN SHERE'S "KIRCHIAN"("FRAGMENTS") AS ONE OF THE TWO BEST
BOOKS FOR THE YEAR 2008. ADBI CULTURE WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE YEAR 2001
FOR THE PROMOTION OF URDU LITERARY ADVANCEMENT THROUGHOUT THE GLOBE.

Professor Qamar Rais presenting a Shawl to Parvin Shere at the Urdu Academy during the launch of her book KIRCHIAN (New Edition), Delhi(2008)
PARVIN Shere is an artist, poet and musician. She is the wife of
Professor Syed Waris Shere, an alumni of Aligarh Muslim University.
Parvin developed her talent of paintings at the University of
Manitoba, Canada, Fine Arts Program. Her extensive travel throughout
Europe and particularly in developing countries triggered in her a
need to enlighten her audience about the dualistic nature of this
world. The oppressed has a profound effect on her work. Her visual art
has been shown extensively in Canada, U.S.A., England, France and
India. Her work is displayed in many prominent public and private
collection internationally. She has received several awards for her
paintings. She was one of five nominees honored during the prestigious
"Woman of Distinction Awards" for her contribution in Art, Culture and
Heritage in Winnipeg, Canada. She has composed CD'S of poetry and

Launching of KIRCHIAN(New Edition) by Professor Qamar Rais at the Urdu Academy, Delhi(2008).
Parvin's book was recently launched in India, Pakistan, the United
Kingdom and Germany. Her book is also in the collection of the British
Library in London, the University of Heidelberg, Germany and Maulana
Azad Library of Aligarh Muslim University. Parvin was recently
honoured at Aligarh, Delhi Ghalib Academy, Jamia Milliah and
Allahabad. After the publication of "KIRCHIAN" another collection is
soon to be released. It is a coffee table book titled "RAINDROPS ON
PARCHED LAND"(NIHALE - E- DIL PAR SAHAB JAISE), a unique concept that
has emerged fom Parvin's pen and brush. This book is a collection of
poetry and related paintings on a single universal theme of "MOTHER"
which has never been taken into creative account in Urdu literature
before so comprehensively by a single artist. There is no precedent in
Urdu literaure to what Parvin Shere has done. If an average poet wasa
given the challenge to compose more than four dozen poems on a single
theme, it would be difficult with such a meritorious way of handling
it without repetitive similarity
says Dr. Satyapal Anand, an eminent poet and scholar. Parvin believes
that "the purpose of any art is to foreshadow a greater reality. The
challenge for the artist is to capture the aura of the unseen".
