ALIGARH, March 18: All the B.Tech. programmes of the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology at the Aligarh Muslim University have been accredited with excellence by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
Professor M.T. Ahmed, Principal of the College, said that it is very rare that in the first attempt, all the B.Tech. programme of a college are sanctioned accreditation for a accreditation for a maximum possible period of two years.
The National Board Accreditation is one of the prestigious programmes of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which has been set up to assess the qualitative competence of technical educational institutions at all the levels of education. One of the major objectives of NBA accreditation is to continuously encourage technical institutions to strive towards attainment of excellence. It helps in improving the quality and effectiveness of the educational programmes. Accreditation of an institution gives multifold advantages. The degree awarded by an accredited institution is recognized not only in India, but also in foreign countries. It helps the students' employment prospects and their acceptability in the market. At present, it is also helping the institutions in getting lucrative funding on the submitted research projects from various governmental bodies, like, MHRD, DST and UGC, etc.
NBA's decision on providing accreditation to all the seven Undergraduate Programmes for a maximum possible period of five years was communicated to the College by the NBA. This will help the institution in boosting the image of the College and help in its strive of becoming a top ranking institution of the country.
