Muslim participation in last Presidential election
Dr. Asad U Khan,
President Islamic Education Foundation of Manitoba Inc.
--------------------------------------
Barak Obama has completed the first hundred days in the office, and in spite severe economic upheaval has maintained good rapport with the electorates.
During the 2008 presidential election a day did not go by without the words 'Muslims' and 'Obama' being mentioned in the same sentence.
A few weeks before election, the Clarion Fund, a non profit group, distributed throughout the United States, and anti Muslim DVD titled 'Obsession' in the Sunday edition of papers. The copies were also mailed to various individuals in swing states.
According to Paul Barret, former editor of Wall Street Journal, it was a rough election season for Muslims and Arab Americans.
The Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) a media watch-dog group also commented that the mainstream press did not do enough to challenge the election related smears of Islam.
American Muslims, just like other minority groups, are striving to enter mainstream political system and are finding that American political environment has very high entry barriers. But more than external barriers, there are certain characteristics of the American Muslim community itself which have erected internal barriers to political cohesiveness and effective mobilization. The single most important barrier to political cohesion is the inability of the community to prioritize its political agenda and create a widely accepted short list of political goals.
American Muslims emigrated from many parts of Muslim world and with the growth of community several subgroups have emerged. The two largest of them are Arabs and South Asians. Both of these groups are unable to break away from the politics of old countries. There is an attempt by both Arab and South Asians to organize themselves to pursue a parochial agenda rather than to work toward achieving the overall goals of community and this as well is true in Canada.
According to Zafar Bukhari, Director of Pew Foundation, the Muslim community in North America wants to be seen as a leader in several areas. One is to function as a minority group seeking to protect its rights, another is to represent larger Muslim community in the world.
In 2008 Democratic national convention of the parties 4,000 delegates present 47 were Muslims who formally endorsed Barak Obama's nomination as the party's presidential candidate. This was the first time that Muslim activist and office holders established a network of Muslim Democrats in order to form a visible presence at the convention and increase their influence within the party.
According to Newsweek magazine, a pole conducted by the 'American Muslim Taskforce' found that 600 Muslims surveyed from 10 states including Pennsylvania and Florida, 98 percent of Muslims cast their votes in this presidential election for Obama and 2 percent for McCain. Another pole taken by Gallup organization reported that more Muslim American supported Obama than Hispanic Americans.
Did Muslims have their own apprehensions about Obama? One concern shared by American Muslims was that Obama never defended them when the word Muslim was used as a slur, instead it took others like CNN's Campbell Brown and former Secretary of State Colin Powel to ask the question "so what if he was a Muslim"
In an another incident, two Muslim women wearing headscarves were barred from Obama's rally by his staff, but this incidence was quickly resolved following the criticism of Congressman Keith Ellison and other Muslim organizations, Barak Obama called the two young women to apologize and assure them that the decision to bar them did not in any way reflect his policy.
According to the Arab American Institute's Dr. James J Zogby, a well known pollster , the initial post-election response in the Arab American community was heart warming with many sharing moving anecdotes of their campaign experience, their reaction to victory and their hopes for change. Zogby cautions that "the Arab Americans need to ground their expectations in political realities and be wary of slanderous attacks smacking of anti-Semitism, the campaign is now over and President Obama is playing on the world stage with more than one audience at stake."
It will be fair to conclude that Muslims and Arabs are far from being fully integrated into American society. The full integration appears a distant goal and so does their full acceptance as member of American citizenry.

AMU Aligarh 59th Annual Convocation Report
These words of Barack Husain Obama at the joint address to the Congress in today's 21st century depicts something that Sir Syed Ahmad Khan had deciphered way back in mid 19th century.
Living this dream of Sir Syed every year and every minute is the historic Aligarh Muslim University which held its 59th Annual Convocation on June 7, 2009, where it also conferred Honorary Doctorate Degrees on Music maestro, the master of silence between the notes A.R. Rahman and scholar, critic and master of Urdu language Professor Gopichand Narang.
The Convocation was addressed by Mr. Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Governor of West Bengal as a Chief Guest.
The University awarded 2725 Bachelor degrees, 1490 Masters degrees, 291 Ph.D. degrees and D.Sc. to Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Siddiqi of Botany at the Annual Convocation which saw a six percent increase in the Master degrees and remarkable 90 percent increase in the number of Ph.D. degree awarded.
Prachi Mehndittra, a MBBS pass out bagged 14 gold medals, the highest ever won by any student, that too a girl, in the history of AMU.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Narang pointed out that Aligarh Muslim University is not merely an institution or a University; rather it is the shining chapter of the history of Urdu language and literature and the candid testament of the dreams of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Overwhelmed with the honour, which regarded as the greatest of all conferred by Madinat-ul-Ilm (AMU – City of knowledge), Professor Narang exemplified the meaning and beauty of Urdu language in his carefully crafted words.
Speaking in chaste Urdu, Professor Narang said, "Taj Mahal is supreme among all our buildings, if there is any language that can be called the Taj Mahal of all languages, it is undoubtedly Urdu with its aesthetic beauty and sublimity".
Professor Narang said, "if I bear any identity today, it is Urdu. It bears the truth of more than one thousand years of our composite culture that has shaped our identity". Referring at all attempts to paint Urdu in the light of 'exclusivity and dogma', Narang said that it is the time that we should understand that Urdu is the language of many faiths and stands for plurality.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Professor P.K. Abdul Azis while lauding Professor Gopichand Narang's contribution to Urdu language said that he had blazed a new trail in Urdu writing and had transcended many borders. Professor Azis described Professor Narang as a "true India's Cultural and Literary Ambassador".
Professor Azis mentioned that Professor Narang always raised his voice against parochialism, religious fanaticism and social injustice. He had firmly maintained all along that Urdu has been the conduit language of inter-faith harmony and has severed as a bridge between Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims for centuries. He considers Urdu as one of the finest products of our composite literature.

AMU Medical College: Successful trial of radiofrequency lesioning of facet joints
Anaesthesiology, J. N. Medical College Hospital carried out the
successful trial of radiofrequency lesioning of facet joints for
patients suffering from back pain. This trial was made by the
radiofrequency machine brought by Mr. Naveen from the Advanced
Neurostimulation System (ANS), New Delhi. The radiofrequency system is
the most advanced system for the management of different painful
conditions. This is a totally non pharmacological system where the
patient is managed with minimum or no drugs. This technique proved to
be the most reliable and safe technique for patients suffering from
low back pain. Since thepatient require minimum amount of medication
for pain relief after radiofrequency application. Hence this technique
is cost effective for the patients as well.
On this occasion Principal and Chief medical superintendent J. N.
Medical College Hospital, Prof. Ashraf Mallik congratulate the
Chairman, D0epartment of Anaesthesiology Prof. M. M. H. Siddiqi, Prof.
S. Bano, Consultant in Pain Clinic Dr. Hammad Usmani and all faculty
members of the Department for their efforts and expressed his whole
hearted support to procure the machine at the earliest for the benefit
of patients. Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology Prof. M. M. H.
Siddiqi and Prof. S. Bano showed their keen interest in this technique
and promised all possible help for patients suffering from various
pain problems.
The one day trail was conducted by Dr. Hammad Usmani and his team in
Pain Clinic, J. N. Medical College Hospital on seven patients
suffering from intractable back pain. With the availability of machine
in future, patients suffering from various painful conditions i.e.
cervical pain, back pain, trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathic pain,
complex pain syndromes and cancer pain will be managed with this
technique. The technique will not only make the treatment of pain
problems more effective, it will also prove to be cost effective for
the patients as well as decrease the side effects of excessive use of
analgesic drugs.
From the moderators worldofaligs;An information about the treatment;
Dr raza
Radio Frequency Lesioning – Facet Joints
What is Radio Frequency Lesioning?
This is a procedure that uses a machine (Radio frequency generator) to
generate a current to interrupt nerve conduction on a semi-permanent
basis. The radio frequency current heats the surrounding tissue around
a terminal branch of the nerve and this diminishes transmission of
painful sensations. Radio frequency is a widely used method for
lesioning nervous tissue. With this technique, a high frequency
current is passed down an electrode, through a cannula that is fully
insulated except for its tip. This heats the surrounding tissue from
between 42-80°C and prevents the transmission of pain signals from the
area being treated. This procedure can achieve 60 - 90% pain relief in
many patients for periods of more than a year.
What are Facet Joints?
Facet joints (zygapophyseal joints) are located in the back of the
spine. The facet joints are made up of two facing surfaces from the
vertebra above and below. They stabilise the spine and limit extension
and rotation of the spine. There are two joints one on each side of
the spine at every vertebrae from L5-C1, each of these have two
articulating (moving) surfaces; one surface faces upwards and the
other downwards. The facet joints are surrounded by a capsule of
connective tissue and contain a small amount of fluid, which
lubricates the joints. The surfaces of the facet joints are coated
with cartilage that allows the joints to move smoothly against each
other.
Where and how is the procedure performed?
The procedure will take place in an x-ray theatre, to enable your
doctor to place the radio frequency needles at the appropriate level
for your pain. Nerves cannot be visualised by x-ray; the bones around
the area of the nerves are used as landmarks and can be easily seen
with x-ray.
A nurse or radiographer will take you into the theatre where the
doctor will explain the procedure for you and ask you to sign a
consent form. Please keep your glasses, if needed and bag with you.
When you have signed the consent form the doctor will insert a canula,
probably in your hand, in order to access your vein. This will enable
the nurse to give sedation if required for the procedure.
You will be asked to lie down on the x-ray table, on your front for
lumbar (low back) facet joint denervation or on your back for cervical
(neck) facet joint denervation. A nurse will be with you at all times
and you will be able to talk to her about any aspects of the procedure
as it progresses. You will be offered sedation during the procedure.
The sedation used is a combination of two drugs, which act in
different ways. Fentanyl is used for pain relief and midazolam is a
sedative used to help you relax. The amount of sedation you require
will depend on how well you tolerate the procedure. You will need to
be awake enough to communicate with the doctor and nurses.
How is the procedure performed?
The doctor will place needles in your back or neck under x-ray control
and the radio frequency lesioning will take place at different levels.
Once the needles are in the correct position the tissues surrounding
the needle tip are heated using the Radio Frequency machine, this
usually takes 60 seconds for each level. You need to be awake enough
to report what you are feeling. The procedure takes about half an
hour. During this time the nurse will be monitoring your heart rate,
blood pressure and oxygen saturation. You may require oxygen by a
facemask during the procedure.
What happens after the procedure?
You will be taken back to your recovery area where a nurse will
monitor your progress and you will be able to rest for 30 minutes to
an hour. You will then be offered something to eat or drink prior to
getting up. Most patients are ready to go home an hour after the
procedure is completed. You will not be able to drive yourself due to
the sedation. It is advisable to take things easy on the day of the
procedure. You may find that you experience some muscle soreness for
up to a week after the procedure and it is expected that you will
experience a reduction in your pain after this time. It can take about
3 weeks to experience the maximum pain relief, especially if there is
a muscle pain component to the pain (this may need to be treated, in
addition).
When should I go back to work after the procedure?
You should be able to return to work the next day. If you are
experiencing some pain around the injection sites you may wish to take
a further day or two off work or at least ensure that your workload is
not too heavy.

Book: The Struggle For Peace By Waris Shere
A crisis in America’s foreign policy is a crisis for the whole mankind, since the use or misuse of its immense, unmatched power affects everyone. Waris Shere has done valuable work in collecting articles by 25 noted scholars, statesmen and diplomats about the situation arising from the terrorist attack in New York in 2001 and the subsequent American occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq. The objective of the book is not to condemn the US’s actions but to understand the present situation and formulate rational suggestions for solving the problem. He has made an excellent selection.
We have Akbar Ahmed here and Karamatullah Ghori, Bernard Lewis and Richard Haass. There is an excellent piece by Barnett Rubin on Afghanistan. And Solana, with his murky diplomatic method, has not spared us his inanities, while Huntington has obviously not learnt anything new.
The main thing is that, while each has spoken of terrorism, none has attempted to define it. Most have offered advice to the US on what to do about the situation it has got into, without digging up the past.
Akbar Ahmed appears to accept that the West’s contention with the Muslim World may have, mainly, an ideological content, although concrete social relations always take primacy over consciousness.
Zbigniew Brzezinsky, who has contributed one of the best essays, does not question the US’s basic aim in the Middle East. He examines how it could be pursued at a lower cost and with a longer impact.
John Deutch is worried about nuclear proliferation but is equally clear that restriction on the spread of nuclear weapons cannot mean the US giving up such weapons. crisis in America’s foreign policy is a crisis for the whole mankind, since the use or misuse of its immense, unmatched power affects everyone. THE NEW BEGINNING - ISLAM AND THE WEST
A historical speech ever delivered by an American President in Cairo designed to improve better U.S. relations with the Islamic nations. President Barack Obama in his address said that the United States and the Islamic world must confront violent extremism across the globe for the sake of humanity. According to Boston Globe, Obama's much-anticipated remarks before an often-applauding audience of 3,000 at Cairo University - and to an estimated 1.6 billion Muslims around the globe - intertwined quotes from the Holy Quran with soaring oratory. "America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition," Obama declared in his 55- minute address, the longest of his presidency, adding, "The interests we share as human beings are far more powerful than the forces that drive us apart." President Barack Obama called for a better relations between the United States and the Muslim world. According to the Times of London, no one in the Arab world can remember anything quite like it. President Barack Obama quoted from the Koran, recalled his own experiences of living in Indonesia, and emphasised his family's connections to Islam. Above all he showed great humility, a respect for Islamic traditions and the Muslim world. Quoting verses from the Holy Qur'an, the United States President, Barack Obama called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims". "We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world - tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate," Obama said. "I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect," President Obama said.
It is the first time an American leader drawn so much applause from an audience in the Muslim world, or dared to quote the Holy Quran so often. He said, we meet at a time of great tension between the United States and Muslims around the world, tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate. 'America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition — in fact, they overlap and share several principles,' President Obama said. "President Barack Obama succeeded in delivering a message of respect to Muslims across the world," said an editorial in the United Arab Emirates-based Gulf News. "His familiarity with Islam and his ability to quote comfortably from the Holy Quran is bound to resonate in this part of the world. The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of coexistence and cooperation but also conflict and religious wars. President Obama wishes to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based on mutual interest and mutual respect, and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap and share common principles, principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings. In his address the President said, we can recall the words of Thomas Jefferson, who said: "I hope that our wisdom will grow with our power and teach us that the less we use our power, the greater it will be." All of us share this world for but a brief moment in time.
The question is whether we spend that time focused on what pushes us apart or whether we commit ourselves to an effort, a sustained effort to find common ground, to focus on the future we seek for our children and to respect the dignity of all human beings. President Obama's mission on this historical visit in the heart of Islamic culture was to tell Muslims that the United States is "not, and never will be, at war with Islam," reiterating a statement he made in Turkey earlier. President Obama noted that Thomas Jefferson kept a copy of the Holy Quran in his personal library, and he told the audience that "there is a mosque in every state of our union." According to New York Times, Obama's speech in Cairo, which he called a "timeless city," was perhaps the riskiest of his presidency, as he used unusually direct language to call for a fresh look at deep divisions, both those between Israel and its neighbors and between the Islamic world and the West. Paul D. Wolfowitz, a former top Bush administration official who was an architect of the war in Iraq and is a strong supporter of Israel, offered general praise for Mr. Obama's address. "I could have used less moral equivalence, but he had to get through to his audience, and it's in America's interest for him to get through," Mr. Wolfowitz said. Fareed Zakaria a prominent foreign affairs analyst has noted that the way in which President Obama was able to use the symbols and symbolism of Islam and his familiarity with it was very powerful. He was able to convey to the audience and to the world that he knew Islam and understood it. President Obama has the opportunity to create facts on the ground that will change the dynamics of politics in a major Arab nation, Zakaria said. Many Arabs regard Obama as the ideal American leader.
The president, who is a Christian but whose Kenyan Muslim father came from a family that includes generations of Muslims, stressed his Muslim roots in a way that he never did during his presidential campaign last year. "He said things that if previous presidents had said them, it wouldn't have mattered, but because he is who he is, it changed the climate in which he said them, made it more meaningful," said Ron Kaufman, who was a political adviser to former President George H.W. Bush. "The fact that a Barack Hussein Obama said these things, he can say them in a way that the moderate Muslims would listen," Kaufman said. President Obama's Harvard Law School education served him very well in talking about the rights of individuals. In an editorial, the Financial Times called Obama a born leader. "There is no bombast or chauvinism or phony sentiment in Mr. Obama's oratory. He inspires, yet his appeal is always to the intellect; still he holds an audience of this size spellbound. It was the performance of a born leader. President Barrack Obama has proven to be the best gift that the United States could have given to the world. The New York Times reports, "Again and again, Muslim listeners said they were struck by how skillfully Mr. Obama appropriated religious, cultural and historical references in ways other American presidents had not. He sprinkled the speech with four quotations from the Holy Quran and used Arabic greetings." He "structured his speech almost like a Friday Prayer, blending a political, social and religious message." The Washington Post reports the "55-minute address electrified many Muslims in the Arab Middle East," and praises the President's use of "spare language and a measured explanatory tone," while the Los Angeles Times says "few world leaders today can match Obama's eloquence and charisma," adding that although the speech "didn't provide enough concrete solutions to wipe away doubt...it did suggest...that the president is a conciliator, not a warrior, and that America, especially in Iraq, had made mistakes." The Jordan Times reports that "several intellectuals" it interviewed yesterday said Obama's speech "was marked by courage and balance, adding that it will help push peace efforts in the Middle East forward as he renewed commitment to creating a Palestinian state and assured the Israelis of continued US support at the same time." The Egyptian Gazette says the President received "thunderous applause" from the audience as he "sought to share the blame for tense relationships between the US and some Muslims" in his address. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said: "It was a remarkable speech, a speech that without any doubt is going to open a new page in the relation with the Arab-Muslim world and I hope in the problems we have in so many theatres in the region." President Obama can end "years of tension and confrontation" between the West and Islam, Arab League chief Amr Moussa said. "The general relationship between the West and Islam was very much affected by policies in the last few years," the secretary-general of the 22-nation bloc told the BBC. "
The relationship between the West and Islam - the years of tension and confrontation should come to an end now." UN chief Ban Ki-moon expressed hope that the speech would have a "positive impact" on the moribund Middle East peace process and "herald the opening of a new chapter in relations between the United States and the Islamic world". President Barack Obama is a powerful figure on the world stage. About 80 percent of people in France, Germany, Italy and Spain have a positive view of President Obama. President Barack Obama is a great communicator and has the potential to become one of the greatest political speakers of modern times. He deserves to be ranked beside Lincoln and King, men of words whose greatest triumphs came amid the most dreadful adversity. After the last Presidential election, the New Yorker literary critic James Wood published a close reading of his victory speech in Chicago, tracing the allusions to Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, and exploring his use of history, his fondness for repetition, and the "plain but musical" flow of his language.

The Wolrd's Most Prestigious And Renowned Institution By Syed Waris Shere
BY: SYED WARIS SHERE,
WINNIPEG,
Fond Memories
I have the fond memories of the Aligarh Muslim University, the world
prestigious and renowned institution. It was a privilege and honour to
have studied at this university of high learning. To me, Aligarh
Muslim University strives to be one of the leading research
universities and the most outstanding university in the world. As a
research university, it seeks to achieve the highest levels of
distinction in the discovery and transmission of knowledge and
understanding. Many prominent leaders, and Urdu writers and scholars
of the Indian sub -continent have graduated from the Aligarh Muslim
University. This is a premier Central University with several
faculties and maintained institutions and draws students from all
corners of the world, specially Africa, West Asia and South East Asia.
Joined the University
My father Syed Ahsan Shere and elder brother Syed Harris Shere were
also the product of this great institution. My brother Syed Harris
Shere of the Engineering College was married to Shanaz the daughter of
Dr. Hafizur Rahaman, Formerly Dean of Law at the A.M.U. Dr. Hafizur
Rahman and my father were class mates at the Aligarh Muslim University
in early 1930's. Dr. Rashidulzaffar an eminent educationist and
brother of my sister-in-law Shahnaz was my class mate(1952-54) in
Intermediate Science. I joined the University in 1952. During my four
year stay in Aligarh, I resided in Mumtaz Hostel, Aftab Hostel and
S.S.West. I was actively involved in sports and Student Union
activities. Upon completion of under-graduate degree in 1956, I left
for Europe in 1958 and studied at the University of London and
Technische Hochscule, Aachen, Germany. In 1962, I left for Canada and
taught Applied Mathematics at the University of Manitoba and Red River
College, Canada.
Books and Publications
I have authored eight books in the field of Applied
Mathematics for Engineering and Science and International Affairs. My
book "IN SEARCH OF PEACE" had a foreword by Lord Douglas Home, former
Prime Minister of Great Britain. My other publication "THE STRUGGLE
FOR PEACE" has been recently released with an introduction by
Professor Akbar Ahmed, Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies, American
University, Washington. The Aligarh Muslim University provided me with
valuable experience.
Encouraging Campus Life
I found that the Campus life activities were
built around the concepts of encouraging each community member to
express his or her talents and to respect all members of our
pluralistic community. One of the University's most distinctive
characteristics, I experienced was its closely knit and integrated
residential community. I had also the distinct honour of my close
association with Dr. Zakir Husain, Vice-Chancellor of this eminent
university. Dr. Zakir Hussain was an imposing embodiment of culture
and refinement. He was sensitive to beauty in all its forms and had an
intense passion for excellence. He was also a personal friend of my
father Syed Ahsan Shere. Dr. Zakir Husain went to the University of
Berlin for higher studies in 1923 with my uncle Syed Hamid Shere,
returning with a doctorate in Economics three years later. He rejoined
the Jamia Millia in February-March, 1926 and became the Shaikhu Jamia
(Vice-Chancellor). It was at the Jamia Millia that Dr. Zakir Hussain
developed his gifts as an educationist. It was his experience here as
well as his deep study of the philosophy of education which enable him
to take charge of the scheme of Basic National Education when it was
launched in 1938.
Close Knit Family
We are blessed with three children, Sahba, Sheraz
and Feraz. Sheraz did his post-graduate studies at Princeton
University. He was the youngest Vice-President with the American
Express in New York. At the moment Sheraz is working for "GOOGLE" in
Sanfrancisco. Our youngest son Feraz graduated in Chemical Engineering
and M.B.A from the university of Toronto. He is working for "SCOTIA
CAPITAL" in Investment Banking in Toronto. Only last year (2008) my
wife Parvin Shere and I spent some of the best times of our lives in
Algarh. We stayed in Hafeez Manzil with my Bhabi Shanaz and her
children Faisal Shere, Hasan Shere and their wives. During our stay in
Aligarh Parvin's book "KIRCHIAN"(2nd Edition) was launched. Parvin is
an artist, poet and musician. Her extensive travel throughout Europe
and particularly in developing countries triggered in her a need to
enlighten her audience about the dualistic nature of this world. The
oppressed has a profound effect on her work. Her visual art has been
shown extensively in Canada, U.S.A., England, France and India. Her
work is displayed in many prominent public and private collection
internationally. She has received several awards for her paintings.
She has composed CD'S of poetry and music for UNICEF to help raise
funds for underprivileged children globally. Parvin's book "KIRCHIAN"
is also in the collection of Maulana Azad Library in Aligarh.
Maulana Azad Library And Its Valuable Collections
I was very impressed visiting thev library, surrounded by 4.75 acres of land
in the form of beautiful lawns and gardens. It is the most beautiful
building of the University and one of the few very attractive
libraries in India. I was told by the Chief Librarian that the Library
has approximately 900,000 books. It is because of these rich
collections of immense research value that this Library is reckoned
among major libraries of the world. The oldest manuscript owned by the
library is more than fourteen hundred years old. It is a fragment of
the Quran transcribed by Hazrat Ali, the fourth caliph of Islam and is
written on parchment in Kufi script. Another rare collection is the
Halnama of Beyazid Ansari, no copy of which is available anywhere else
in the world. Aligarh Muslim University is an experience. The academic
program is demanding, which students appreciate, and it prepares
students for not only the work force but also top-notch graduate
schools. Students who take full advantage of what Aligarh has to offer
have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented professors
and scholars in the world on an idyllic campus. They graduate with one
of the best educations in the country and with all the connections the
alumni experience has to offer. Some students may not realize the
significance of the Aligarh Muslim University experience until they
march on to the new world. As long as I live, I will always cherish
the memory of this renowned institution. Whatever I am today, it is
mainly due to the education I received at this outstanding
institution.
