April 7: The Extension Of library building of West Asian studies underwent a substantial expansion. AMU VC Prof. Abdul Azis inaugurated this new building. It is a welcome step for this unique institution of AMU. It is the only institute in the entire country which publishes its own journal said Prof. S. Shamir Hasan, Chairman, Centre for West Asian Studies.
Prof. Mohd. Gulrez, former Chairman disclosed the plans of starting a distance leaning course targeted at gulf. The centre started Conflict Resolution Management Course last year, which has received positive response from staff and students.

On the same day came another great move, where 10 cubicles were inaugurated in Women's college for Chemistry and English teachers. Prof. Iffat Ara, Incharge, English Section and Prof. Bilquis Naseem Waris thanked the VC for this very crucial and constructive step.

The Registrar Prof. V.K. Abdul Jaleel expressed his support for all further constructive developments.
The VC also announce that Our University AMU Aligarh has ranked No. 3 among central universities according to a survey.
