Another Woman Achiever Of AMU Aligarh: Dr. Salma Ahmad

The releasing ceremony of "How To Write And Analyse Cases" by Dr. Salma Ahmad took place yesterday ie on 27/04/2011. She is an Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The book was release by Mr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, National President, Indian Institute of Material Management (IIMM), in a formal book releasing ceremony in New Delhi.

Other dignitaries present on this occasion included Mr. S. Prasad, Chairman, Delhi Chapter of IIMM, Mr.
Nandkumar, Counselor, IIMM and Mrs. Deepak S. Gulati, Chief Manager, Materials, NALCO. The executive students of PG Diploma in Logistics Management and PG Diploma in Materials Management were also present in the function.

Dr. Salma Ahmed's book was distributed as a part of learning module to the select twenty participants of an International Conference on Global Supply Chain, organised by Malaysian Institute of Purchase and Materials Management (MIPICS) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Material Management (IIMM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The book was well received by participants who came from all over the world including Thailand, Netherland, Singapore, China, Kenya, Johannesberg, Nigeria and Malaysia.

Analysing cases is an essential part of management course curriculum. Dr. Ahmed’s book is a treatise for management students who find analysing cases an insurmountable task. When asked what inspired her to write the book, she said, " On one hand, students have been an inspiration to me; whose constant fear of handling cases and query on how to go about it motivated me to list a few simple formula and framework for analysing cases and on the other, it was the editorial team of Vikalpa - The Journal of Decision Makers,
published from The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad that has recognized my efforts by publishing 17 of my case analyses in a series."

Professor Saiyed Mohammad Ameen Mian Qadri 44th most influential Muslim


ALIGARH December 10: Professor Saiyed Mohammad Ameen Mian Qadri of the Urdu Department at the Aligarh Muslim University has been listed 44th most influential Muslim in the world by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of the Georgetown University, USA.

The Prince Al-Waheed Bin Talal Centre for Muslim-Christian Understanding Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University has published a new book entitled the 500 most influential Muslims in the world-2009 rank Professor Saiyed Mohammad Ameen Mian Qadri 44th most influential Muslim in the world.

Prof. Saiyed Mohammad Ameen is patronizing a large number of institutions of modern and oriental tradition. He has written several books on Urdu literature and translated various books on mysticism.

Prof. Ameen is founder of Albarkat Educational Institutions and under its aegis several institutions are run.

Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmad "The Father Of Indian Dentistry" Was An AMU Alumnus

Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmad is known as Father Of Indian Dentistry. He was Born on 24 December 1890, in Bardhanpura of East Bengal. He completed his graduation from Aligarh Muslim University in 1908. Later he went to Iowa School of Dentistry and earned his DDS in 1915. He returned to India in 1919 and started his own dental practice.
The First Dental College of India was established in Calcutta presently Kolkata by Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmad, in the year 1924. It was then called Calcutta Dental College and Hospital and was constructed single handedly by him without any government aid. He donated his college to the Government of Bengal and served as the Principal from 1920 to 1950. Incidentally it was the first Dental College to be established in Asia. After his death the college was renamed after him as Rafiuddin Ahmad Dental College.
Dr. Rafiuddin's philosophy of education was
“Education is the responsibility of the state, but if nobody is willing to carry the cross, I will for as long as I can.”
In the year 1925 he founded the Bengal Dental Association and served as the President of Dental Council Of India from 1954 to 1958. The Indian Government awarded Padma Bhushan for his contributions in the filed of dentistry. He was awarded Fellowships of International College Of Dentists, Fellowship Of Royal College Of Surgeons and Fellow Of Pierre Fauchard Academy. Today he is remembered as the Nestor and Dean Of Dentistry, Dental Education and the Dental Profession in India. He published the first textbook of Operative Dentistry. He started the Indian Dental Journal as well. He was the editor of various reputed international journals.  He left for heavenly abode on 18 January 1965.
