Qualifications

Ph.D. in one of the areas of Economics / Business Administration, in particular

Not less than 10 years of experience after receiving the Ph.D. in one or more of the above areas.
Must have distinguished international publications on any of the topics of Economics / Business Administration.
Must have teaching experience on courses of Economics / Business Administration at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Must have a proven record of supervising Master degree theses on Economics / Business Administration.
Must have extensive experience on managing and implementation of research projects on different areas of Economics / Business Administration.

Academic Vacancies in the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences

The College of Medicine & Medical Sciences of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) was founded by the member states of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries, and based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Established in 1984, the College of Medicine trains medical undergraduates, with a 6 year programme based on an integrated, Problem – Based Learning (PBL) curriculum with emphasis on self-directed, small group learning. The medium of instruction is English. The faculty is fully involved in a number of specialist Masters and PhD Programmes in this College.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

Candidates should have a basic Medical Degree from a well-recognized university. They should have a 5-10 years experience in their specialties (Boards, Membership of Royal Colleges, PhD, or equivalent) and have a very good track record in teaching and research. Experience of PBL will be an advantage.

Basic salary scales

Professor from BD 1610 – BD 2360
Associate Professor from BD 1495 – BD 2075
Assistant Professor from BD 1150 – BD 1610

(BD equivalent to US$ 2.67)

Other benefits include Children's Education Allowance, Housing, Travel, and an end of contract gratuity. Clinical faculty are entitled to an extra allowance of 30-50% of basic salary; and a Distinction Award of up to 50% of basic salary may be made in exceptional cases.

The Programme of "Technology Management" invites applications for the positions of Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors In Technology Management ™)

The Technology Management Programme (TMP) offers a one-year postgraduate diploma and a two-year M.Sc. in TM.
A Ph.D. Program is currently under development to be offered in the near future.

The appointee to this position is expected to contribute teaching and research in Technology Management and supporting fields.

Preference is given to those with wide research experience and a strong publications record. Industrial experience is a plus.

Qualifications:

Applicants are expected to have a postgraduate qualification (minimum of a Ph.D. degree) in the relevant discipline followed by three years experience in teaching for Assistant Professors, eight years for Associate and more than 15 years for Professors.


Industrial, research and development, and other practical experience will be evaluated.


Applicants should demonstrate evidence of involvement in research activities and have publications in international journals.


Expected fields of specialization are: Technology Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Quality and Productivity Management, Strategic Management and Planning, and/or Business Information Technology.

Self-access centre supervisor and English language tutor

The English Language Unit requires a part-time self-access centre supervisor and English language tutor.

The candidate should have excellent English language skills,

previous experience teaching English to speakers of other languages and a minimum academic qualification of a Bachelor's degree, in English, TESL/TEFL or a related field.

The applicant must be available in the afternoons (2 to 4 p.m.) and all day Thursday and Sunday.

Information Technology Director

Job summary :

Plans, directs and coordinates the computer activities and information of the Company ensuring provisions of total data processing, information management, networking, and hardware equipment consistency. Ensures that data processing resources are developed to keep pace with the direction and growth of the university, and that the data processing strategy is consistent with the overall strategy for AGU and co-ordinates with management and users on data processing and related requirements and long term plans for various systems and network development.

Tasks:

1. Participates with executive management, users and outside concerns in recommending and implementing informationprocessing policies, standards and procedures. Acts as an advisor for users and all aspects of data processing and related services.
2. Plans, in conjunction with users and management, the various system development in-house projects.
3. Stands responsible for the performance, safety and security of the University's computer hardware and software. Chairs or serves as member of committee for major installations or expansions.

Requirements:

BA or BSc in computing or computer related science
Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of information technology
Proven 3 years Experience of managing IT department
Experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
Strong team leading skillsAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment

Releasing Ceremony of a Collection of Poem “Goonj”

Ibn Sina Academy organized a book releasing ceremony on collection of
poems by Aziz Bano Daraab Wafa on 19th April 2009. Aziz Bano Wafa was
a prominent front row Urdu poetess and was heard with love and
affection in all Mehfil-e Mushaira. After death, her collection of
poems entitled "Goonj" is abridged and edited by Mr. S. Moinuddin
Alavi at the instigation of her brother Prof. Azizuddin Tariq.
Presiding over the function, Prof. Zakia Siddiqi said, when she
started annual mushaira at Women's College after discussion with Ali
Sardar Jafri, Daraab Wafa used to attend all Mehfil-e Mushaira almost
every year from Lucknow. Although, we are known with her Kalaam, but
this book is for the next generation, she said.

A large number of dignitaries addressed the function. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad
narrated a write-up of Late Quratul-ain Haider, which she composed on
the sad demise of Daraab Wafa. Quratul-ain Haider was an admirer and a
close friend of Daraab Wafa. Professor Abul Kalam Qasmi expressed in
detail about Daraab Wafa - her life, family and Haveli. Professor
Zahida Zaidi spoke about her friendship and some excerpts of all her
meetings. Prof Shafey Kidwai told about the poetry, philosophy and
life of that great Urdu poetess. Prof AMK Shahryar after releasing the
book recited few couplets of her poem in his own style.

Mr. Moinudddin Alavi thanked the family members of Daraab Wafa
particularly her brother Professor Azizuddin Tariq, for giving him a
chance to edit a collection of her poems in a book form. Professor
Azizuddin Tariq touched some personal family life account of Daraab
Wafa. He also gifted a book – Kulliyate Azizi of her great grandfather
Khwaja Azizuddin Aziz Lucknowi to the Library of Ibn Sina Academy.

Professor Syed Zillur Rahman, founder President, Ibn Sina Academy,
welcomed the guests, conducted the programme and thanked the audience.
