Two books of Prof. H.S. A. Yahya Released by Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis

Two books of Prof. H.S. A. Yahya were released on 27th January 2009 by Hon.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis. The book entitled “Hindustan ke
Tahaffuzati Maqamat aur Hayatyati Tanawwo” (protected areas and biodiversity of
India) is written in Urdu and is the only book in Urdu on such topics. The
second book “Primates of India” is co-authored by Prof. Yahya with his student
Dr. Ekwal Imam which entails the account of identifications, distributions,
habits, habitats and conservation of all non-human primates of the country.

The function was conducted by Prof. A. R. Qidwai, Director of Academic Staff
College A M U Aligarh and presided by the Hon. Vice Chancellor. Prof. Iqbal
Parwez, Dept. of Zoology and Dr. Shakil Samdani Dept. of Law introduced the
books and the authors to the audience and emphasised usefulness of the books for
the wildlife students, general readers as well as for protected area managers.
The Registrar Prof. Jaleel was also present on the occasion and on behalf of
Academic Staff College he presented a souvenir to Prof. Yahya for his academic
achievements and on release of his seventh book. In his brief talk Prof. Yahya
mentioned about the usefulness of the books and hoped that his efforts will be
motivation and inspiration for others to share their experiences and knowledge
with young generation. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for sparing time from his
very schedule for releasing the books and the audience for taking trouble to
attend the function. He also thanked Prof. Qidwai for conducting the function
and two speakers for introducing the books.

In his presidential speech Prof. Azis highlighted the usefulness of the books as
remarkable addition in conservation efforts of biodiversity of the country. He
was more particularly appreciative of Prof. Yahya’s contribution for introducing
wildlife and nature conservation issues to Urdu readers and congratulated him.
He also congratulated Dr. Ekwal Imam. The function ended with a vote of thanks
by Prof. Qidwai.
