Dr. Hammad Usmani presented the paper at Indian Society for Study of Pain at Hyderabad

Aligarh March 4: Dr. Hammad Usmani, lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Consultant in Pain Clinic, Jawaharlal Nehru medical College Hospital, Aligarh Muslim University recently presented a paper on a particular group of drug combination inpatients of Diabetes Mellitus suffering from muscle and joint pains at the Annual Conference of Indian Society for Study of Pain at Hyderabad. He found that the particular drug combination is not only very effective but is also much safer to administer in patients of Diabetes suffering from musculoskeletal painful conditions.

Dr. Hammad emphasized that pain relieving drugs available in the open market could result in serious damages of vital organs like kidneys, liver etc. in patients of diabetes mellitus. Hence such patients should always consult the experts before taking such types of drugs.

Dr. Hammad highlighted that the arthritis of shoulder joint is of the most common musculoskeletal problems in such patients and many of them come to know about their diabetes only after the screening of their blood sugar level. On the other side the known diabetic patients who continue to take the analgesic drugs commonly available over the counters for various painful conditions without consulting experts which could prove to be detrimental for their health in the long run.
