Aligarh March 6: The University Grants Commission has declared the UGC Academic Staff College of Aligarh Muslim University as the third best Academic College among all the fifty five Academic Colleges run by University Grants Commission all over India. The rating of the Academic Colleges was made in a report published by UGC in the Conference of Directors of Academic Colleges on the basis of their performance till the end of X-Plan period.
The Academic Staff College of Aligarh Muslim University was placed third on account of number of refresher and orientation programmes organized by it and the facilities provided to the participant teachers of the courses. The Academic Colleges of Kerala University and University of Pune secured the first and second position respectively.
Prof. A.R. Kidwai, Director of UGC Academic Staff College, Aligarh Muslim University said that the college was established in 1987 and it has organized 309 subject refresher courses and 106 orientation programmes during the period from 1987 to March 2009.
