106th Orientation Programme organized by the UGC Academic Staff College, AMU


*Aligarh April 16:* Addressing the concluding session of the
106th Orientation Programme organized by the UGC Academic Staff
College, Aligarh
Muslim University the Chief Guest Prof. M. Amanullah Kan, former Chairman,
Department of Surgery, J.N. Medical College complimented the course
participants on having received such a useful and valuable training and
skills. He exhorted them to improve the skills and develop the potential of
their students which in turn will lead to the advancement of higher
education in the country.

The Orientation Programme commenced on March 17 and concluded on April 16,
2009 was attended by 42 teacher participants from several states like Bihar,
J & K, Karnataka, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and UP.

Prof. A.R. Kidwai, Director, Academic Staff College urged the participating
teachers to strive for academic excellence to promote social justice and to
propagate the idea of secularism and peaceful co-existence as professed and
practiced by the founder of this seat of learning, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Prof. Kidwai cited the example of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College as a live
symbol of Sir Syed's idea of secularism where students represent every
community of Indian society.

Dr. Alok Srivastava of MJP Ruhelkhand University, Bareilly and Dr. Renu
Patidor of S.N. Govt. Girls' P.G. College, Barkatullah University, Bhopal
also spoke on the occasion. They placed on record their opinion regarding
the love and affection they received at the AMU campus. They described their
stay at the Academic Staff College, AMU as truly rewarding and immensely
useful.

Father Xavier Alphonse, Member, UGC, Prof. M. S. Saiyyedain, IIM, Ahmedabad,
Prof. Harikesh Singh, NUEPA, New Delhi, Prof. Ramesh K. Arora, Jaipur, Prof.
V.P. Tripathi, Agra, Prof. Irfan Habib, AMU, Prof. M. Muzammil, Lucknow and
Prof. F.U. Khan, AMU were among the prominent luminaries who delivered
lectures on various topics during the orientation programme.
