Community Medicine AMU Aligarh gets Gold Medal by World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA)

The Department of community medicine got the prestigious international gold medal
by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) for its work on Promotion of
Breast Feeding in Aligarh District.
This award was given by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA),
which is a global network of individuals and organizations based on the Innocenti Declarations, the Ten Links for Nurturing  the Future and the WHO/UNICEF Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding. It is concerned with the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding worldwide.
A special marathon for World Breastfeeding Week event organizers from all over the world was announced for the year 2008. For this event Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were given to the organizations for their efforts put in the event.
The Award winning team which helped to carry out the various activities of the
breastfeeding week in the community includes:
Professor Zulfia Khan (Organizing secretary); Dr. Najam Khalique (Organizing
Chairman); Dr. Iqbal Mohammad Khan (co-organizing secretary); Dr. Ansari; Dr.
Suboohi Afzal; Dr. Uzma Eram; Dr. Anees Ahmad; Dr. M Salman Shah; Dr. Anjum
Fatima Khan; Dr. M. Asif Khan and Dr. S. Hasan Nawaz Zaidi. The paramedical staff
who deserve special commendations includes Mrs. Doris David, Mrs. Zakia Sultan and
Mr. Wasimullah Khan.
