Vice Chancellor Selection Process Gets Strict

"It may no longer be possible to become vice-chancellor of a central or private university merely because a person thinks he is worthy of the job, is able to exercise influence, or is its promoter. He will have to be a part of a National Registry of VCs that will be compiled by the collegium of the proposed National Commission for Higher Education and Research (NCHER)." -- TOI

A step in the right direction. It is usually seen that a candidate hyped higher than Obama, when assumes the responsibility of a VC, turns all hopes down. It becomes difficult to judge whether it was a wrong choice, or the choice has made him wrong.
