Stem Cell Therapy For Heart Failure Patients: Dr. M. U. Rabbani

Dr. M. U. Rabbani, Director, Cardiology Centre, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University chaired a session during the World Congress on Heart Failure held at PGI Chandigarh. The Main theme of the conference was Stem Cell Therapy in heart failure (decreased functioning of heart) and heart attack. In Stem Cell therapy, cells from Bone Marrow of an individual are injected in his heart either at the time of bypass surgery or coronary angiography. It causes healing of old cells or regeneration of new cell and improves functioning of the heart. Dr. Rabbani also expressed his view on the subject.

This therapy, however, is in a very early stage but after it becomes successful it would revolutionize the heart failure treatment. The Conference was organized by Dr. K. K. Talwar, Director, PGI Chandigarh. The conference included many international speakers like Dr. Filip Martinez and Dr. Sandorson.
